January 17, 2003, Newsletter Issue #41: Bond Not Classical Enough For The Charts

Tip of the Week

Classical music´s answer to the Spice Girls -- new all-girl string quartet Bond -- lashed out at Britain´s music industry on Monday for kicking them out of the classical charts because their music was deemed too pop-like. The group, which last week stormed into the classical music charts at No. 2 with their debut album, Born, and must now settle for the more modest 36 spot in the pop charts, dismissed those who compile the country´s music charts as ``classical snobs.´´ The members of Bond don revealing, contemporary fashions on stage and dance and gyrate like their pureblood pop peers.
