February 1, 2002, Newsletter Issue #5: Future ´uncertain´ for Dudley Moore

Tip of the Week

December 2000. Dudley Moore says a rare brain disorder similar to Parkinson´s disease has left him with a "short and uncertain future." "It´s totally mysterious the way this illness attacks and eats you up, and then spits you out," the 65-year-old comedian said in a BBC interview. "There´s always this feeling of ´Why did it hit me?´ and I cannot make peace with it because I know I am going to die from it," he said. "Yes, I feel angry, that´s true. To be reduced to this insignificant version of myself is overpowering." Last year, the star of "Arthur" was diagnosed as having progressive supranuclear palsy, which attacks brain cells that control balance and eye movements as well as some mental and motor functions.
